2021 PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevens Media Guide

A new tournament under the Oceania Rugby Sevens brand the 2021 PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevens provides targeted High-Performance preparation for regional pre-qualified rugby teams ahead of the Tokyo Olympics Games.

The event features four Men’s and four Women’s teams with the national teams from Australia (current Women’s Olympic Gold Medalist), Fiji (current Men’s Olympic Gold Medalist) and New Zealand (current Men’s and Women’s Commonwealth and RWC Sevens Champions) joined by an Oceania side in both the men’s and women’s event.

The Australian Government is proudly supporting the travel costs for Fiji’s national women and men’s sevens teams to compete in the Challenge, through the Pacific Step-Up program, PacificAus Sports. The $52m program aims to build sustainable, elite sport pathways between Australia and the Pacific, with a major focus on women and girls.

The2021 PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevenswill be held at Queensland Country Bank Stadium and is strategically supported by the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), Sport and Recreation (SR) and Stadiums Queensland (SQ), and Townsville City Council (Council) to bring the world best rugby sevens talent to North Queensland.
